Mumbai trip and ELECRAMA-2010....

ELECRAMA - 2010

Although I have been in Mumbai a couple of times earlier but it was 1st time that I was going there in such a big group. We were going to represent our company at ELECRAMA-2010, one of the biggest and the most reputed international exhibition in power / energy sector. Prior to this, I had also attended ELECRAMA-2004 in Delhi but that time I participated in this exhibition as student and my engineering project was selected for display at student pavilion. Coming back to present, we skipperites managed the whole program successfully and got very good enquiries/ leads for future business.

We saw some new products/ technologies in this exhibition and at the same time we displayed our products recently launched from India as well Nigerian subsidiary.

1200KV CVT from Areva and/ Underground Substation from Hyosung

Polymeric Insulator from Skipper Nigeria and 4 star transformer from Skipper India

Some of the snaps taken in ELECRAMA...

Since this exhibition was being held in Mumbai so most of the Indian visitors were from Maharastra and Gujarat. I wish this were in Delhi then we would have got more inquiries from central and northern part of India which we really missed. Very few engineers from companies having operations in north India visited here. Anyways it was a good experience overall for each member of our team and I am sure we will successfully convert some serious inquiries recieved in Elecrama into big orders.

All 5 days from 20th Jan to 24th Jan were very hectic 4 all of us during exhibition time but every night we used to charge ourselves fully after having dinner and then go out 2 see night-life of Mumbai. Even hotel staff got frustrated with us because of our Natrichar nature (although they didn't show it explicitly). It reminded me of my college days when we used 2 have full masti on night b4 exam. We went 2 Juhu beach, Gate way of India, Nariman point on 3 consecutive day. 4th day, we went to discotheque Bling and had blast till 3.30am. It was my 1st day in any disc and since I didn't know even abc of dance so I was just sitting in the corner so that no1 could see me or force me to dance. Thnx god... I found 3 more guys in our group who were zero in dance and we all 4 had good time there watching beautiful and young girls dancing on floor.

Traveling in Mumbai local was so exciting. I had heard so much much abt it that it is life-line of Mumbai and blah blah.... and finally we got opportunity to enjoy ride of mumbai's local train on 26th Jan.

Although it was republic day so we could not see the real crowd which travels daily in these local trains.

Nariman point was the place which I liked the most in Mumbai. It was so nice to walk aside the sea and see beautiful street lights pattern at mid-night.

Om Sai Nath....

After finishing off Elecrama, we decided to go to Sri Sai Dham of Shirdi and Shani Signapur on 25th Jan. We started early in the morning so that we can complete our journey earlier and could go to Khandala in night. But at the end we got exhausted badly and decided to go back to mumbai. But since we had checked out hotel in the morning so we had to wander here n there for more than 2-3 hrs to find out new hotel (As I told you earlier that staff of our last hotel was fed up and did not want us to check in again). and then we realized how difficult it is to get accommodation in mumbai for your group when you had not planned your visit properly.

Elephanta caves....
On our planned last day in mumbai, we went to Elephanta caves. I dint not like these caves much but since we were in group so we had fun throughout the day. Moreover steamer ride of 1/2 hour duration was very good and all of us enjoyed it.

Our mumbai trip turned out to be a nightmare when we reached airport on 26th Jan evening only to find out that our flight was delayed due to bad weather conditions in delhi. We decided to wait at airport for indefinite time till any final info by airlines. Finally we boarded plane at 12am in night but after reaching Delhi, ATC did not allow our aircraft to land at delhi or even jaipur airport and it had to returned back to mumbai. It was very important for all of us to be in Delhi on 27th Jan since we had a meeting with our group president to discuss post elecrama plans. So we tried to book seats in next available flight but could not get even single seat in any of the flights in next 48 hrs.
But thanks to 1 girl who appeared suddenly before us while we were returning disappointed from airport. She not only helped me to get seat for 4 persons of our group in next afternoon flight but 4 other members of our group also got seats in next flight just after 10 mins (without spending even single penny extra). Once again we had to go back to our 1st hotel where luckily this time we got rooms for us... that night we went to bed just praying that we could reach delhi at any cost tomorrow.

Finally even god had mercy on us and we reached delhi next day 3pm. Since we had already postponed our meeting with president for the next day. so we decided to go to office directly from airport for doing preparations of meeting....

and thus we returned back to our routine and monotonous life of our office...

New Job...

After working with United Technology for 3+1/2 years, I finally put in my papers in March 2008. The main reason of quitting this company was to explore new opportunities since I had reached to level of Dy. General Manager (Marketing) and headed its marketing deptt. for almost 2 years. I can never forget these 4 years at United Technology as it meant a lot to me.

Though I was a bright student throughout my academics and used to get a rank among top three of class but I was very introvert in nature and never felt comfortable interacting with people. It was after joining United Technology, that I became very talketive and started enjoying interaction with every type of person. In fact I performed very well and my boss has always been satisfied with my job. I feel that my personality was developed most in these four years. So that way, I am always grateful to United Technology.

I have joined Skipper Electrical (India) Ltd., Gurgaon as Dy. Manager (Marketing) in April 2008. Since this company is bigger than United Technology so I accepted to work as Dy. Manager though I was working as DGM with United Group. Lets see how Skipper and me can help each other to grow further...

Good luck to me as well as Skipper electrical (India) Ltd. !!
